Here are some data and visualisations on the spreading of Covid-19 around the globe
An animated visualisation report I made using Google Data Studio can be found at the following link:
Sum of new Covid-19 cases daily by country.
It’s a daily visualisation starting from the 1st of January until the 2nd of May 2020 and it compares the various countries by the number of new cases, that get added to the previous one.
Since the disease was virtually almost entirely confined to China until mid February nothing seems to happen in the graph until that date so one needs to patiently wait for a while to see the other countries come into the picture. One could remove the data relative to the World in order for the other bars to stretch out a bit and their bars become more time sensitive but the global scale of the phenomenon would be lost.
Unfortunately, it’s not possible to embed the graph directly on a website yet, so I need to link to the Google Data Studio website to see the graph.
I would also suggest a timely representation published on the New York Times on the 22nd of March that shows how the virus spread from Wuhan to the rest of the world. Obviously, as new data came out recently, it probably doesn’t tell the full story. It’s still a great representation of what happened.
