Kibirashi, Tanzania: maasai village

One day I entered a local restaurant together with a Tanzanian friend and a maasai, who was sitting at a table, stopped and asked me if I were Italian. “Hang on”, I thought, “where do I have it tatooed?!” Apparently he had been working with Italians in Zanzibar and learnt to tell them from the way the move, walk, … Sometimes I feel I’m too little Italian when I am in Italy but too Italian when I’m abroad. The maasai told me that he was waiting for an Italian girl to arrive on the next day and asked me if I wanted to meet her. She was a young student in medicine. I agreed and the next day I met this young, sweet, funny Italian girl. Thanks to them I was able to join both in the journey to spend the weekend in the home village of the maasai.
