Taitung, Taiwan: Handan Bombing

There are three cities in Taiwan famous for the celebrations of Lantern Festival – the event that marks the end of the 15-days long period of the Chinese New Year – and Taitung is one of them. The way Lantern festival is celebrated is different in each one of them. The one held in Taitung goes under the name of Han Dan Bombing and involves throwing firecrackers to a man been paraded across the city and willingly playing the role of Lord Handan.
